| NAERIC Announces the Launch of Three New Programs in 2008 | | 7/7/2008 | | | The North American Equine Ranching Information Council (NAERIC) is pleased to announce the launch of three programs in 2008 to reward and recognize the quality, versatility, athletic ability and disposition of NAERIC registered horses.
The new NAERIC programs are the NAERIC Versatility Ranch Horse Stake, NAERIC Barrels of Cash Sale and Futurity, and the NAERIC MGRA Grass Roots Buckle Awards.
The NAERIC Versatility Ranch Horse Stake is a stake class held in conjunction with an AQHA approved show or special event for registered Quarter Horse, Paint Horse and Appaloosa three-year-olds sired by NAERIC-member owned stallions. A $250.00 stallion nomination fee is due each foaling year. NAERIC registered foals, by a nominated stallion, are eligible to compete. The highest placing horse by a nominated stallion will receive the 1st place purse, followed by 2nd placing horse, etc. 2008 date and location to be determined.
The NAERIC Barrels of Cash Sale and Futurity. The kick-off barrel prospect sale will be held on Friday, October 24, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. in the Amphitheatre during the Wheat City Stampede held at the Keystone Agricultural Centre of Excellence in Brandon, Manitoba. Only foals sold through the sale will be eligible to return and compete as five-year-olds in the NAERIC Barrels of Cash Futurity. Consignors will pay $250.00 to the Futurity purse for each weanling sold. All sale weanlings will be NAERIC registered and eligible for rewards through the NAERIC Advantage.
The NAERIC MGRA Grass Roots Buckle Awards. In recognition of NAERIC-bred horses at the grass roots level in Manitoba, NAERIC buckles will be presented to the high point NAERIC registered horse and rider combination in the Manitoba Gymkana Rodeo Association (MGRA) Pee Wee Classes and Junior Division. Classes at the MGRA shows are Western Pleasure, Reining, Barrel Racing and Pole Bending. 2008 dates and locations to be determined.
